Taylor Lautner to play Jacob Black

Alright, I know I'm going to get flack for this but he is the cast member I am most happy about. No, this is not a joke. He looks so adorable and I have high hopes that he is going to grow up into a really good looking man. He already looks pretty fit (see tiny pic). And they'll fix his hair. I have a lot of faith in him so I hope he doesn't screw up and make me look like a dummy.

i don't entirely agree with you, but it's only because there isn't a real jacob black out there in the world. tall, dark, handsome - i don't think anyone could ever be cast as him. that, and that whole native american issue, which i think has been discussed enough, and i really don't want to open the boards on here for chaos. it's done, it's over, move on.



anyways, i'm really glad to see someone post something like this. it's soooo refreshing to hear good things about taylor being cast as jacob. i hope that over time, everything will die down like it did with robert. just like the rest of the cast, we'll never know until the movie comes out. and i can only imagine how the bashing is going to go then.

girl 1: "OMG, Jacob totally did not say that to Bella like THAT!"
girl 2: "Uh, how do you know? It was a BOOK!"
Girl 1: "Omg, I just know. I like, heard it in my head."

And my only hope is that they've cast him for Twilight because they're going to cast Steven Strait for NM and EC considering he and Taylor do sort of look alike.
But that hope will be dashed shortly, I know, it's a completely impossible thing to wish on because Steven will most likely never be in any Twilight related movie.

I just had to say I didn't like Taylor. I mean, he's cute and all, but he's just not Native American and he doesn't look like Jacob to me. *shrugs*

But hopefully he'll prove me wrong when the movie comes out. I'm not going to say I hate him because that's unfair and very untrue, but right now, I'm not comfortable with him.

i agree with all the posts so far, when i found out i was shocked, i personally thought he looked like a 10 year old
but i started looking at his pics and relised that he is sort of beautiful, and he does have the jake smile!
so i have a open mind, i hope he can show me that hes jake!

To be honest, he's the only one I've been just flat out dissapointed in. I actually think he will be a really good Jacob for Twilight, but as New Moon and especially Eclipse Jacob... he just doesn't have it.

I am still hoping they are just going to use him for Twilight and maybe the very early parts of New Moon, and then get someone else....

I have to say that when I found out he had been cast I was beyond disappointed, heck I was pissed off! He was the only cast member that had truly upset me. Though I'm not near as upset as I was at first I'd be lying if I said I was okay with it now.

I think he's a cute kid and I remember thinking that everytime I saw him on TV or in a movie but...He's not my Jacob, he doesn't look anything like I imagined Jacob to be and I haven't seen any examples of his acting that just blew me away but I am so so hoping that he proves me fantastically wrong because without a good Jacob the movie will fall apart. At least I think so. I hope to watch the movie and he just pulls Jake off effortlessly and I can be completely happy with him.

Now, since we're on the subject I have a question for all of you. When you imagined Jacob what did he look like in your mind? I don't mean what actor you saw him as but just what he looked like to you. Here's what Jake always looked like in my mind. He's probably not what you see as your Jacob but he's mine. Because he's extremely cute in a slightly awkward way and he has a really wide smile...I don't know. Now post your pics!

^Oh wow saoirseangel, he's asian :O That'll be the most unique Jacob I've ever heard of :] Figaro Zeng is a cutie! I've never heard of him before :O maybe because I've never really been into Chinese entertainment (I love Korean entertainment though XD).

I agree with EVERYTHING Sarah said (I'm surprised we have so much in common--Gaspard as Edward, loving Kristen, disliking Taylor as Jacob, STEVEN STRAIT)! But yeah...Taylor is cute... but in that little kid kind of way. In no way is he close to giving Robert a run for the money hehe. I, too hope that Taylor will be replaced by someone like Steven Strait in the next movies. I know it's wishful thinking but hey, what if the Twilight movie become so huge that Steven WOULD want to take part in it? We fans must make sure the movie sells BIG at the box office.

I have nothing against Taylor but I just don't like him as Jacob... has anyone seen photoshopped pictures of him as Jacob? Those really crack me up. Some people just don't look nice with long hair

Steven Strait has been in The Covenant (which isn't that great of a movie... but the eye candy, wow.), Sky High and Undiscovered. His newest movie was 10,000 BC (which I haven't seen). But yeah <3 he's a hottie ;D

and you're a K-girl too? nice. I haven't been up to date with kpop, kdramas and what not but I do still love them.

He's a good actor.
I saw him in The Covenant and 10,000 BC and he's got that tortured look about him...
I don't know. Something about him just reminds me of Jake so much lol.
But yeah, he's a good actor and he's shirtless and really brown in 10,000 BC so the whole time I was watching it I'm sitting there going "Oh my god, it's Jacob!!" lol

He'll be good for Twilight.
But he just looks so young.
So, I don't know how they are going to pull off NM and EC with him.

I guess the main reason I was disappointed was because I had such high expectations with wanting Steven to be cast.
But, I can't really judge Taylor all that much because I've never seen any of his work.
Even thought the thought of "Shark Boy" really makes me doubt his ability because it is so Disney.
Disney has the tendency to ruin actors, and that is what I think of when I think of that movie that he was in.

I was a little shocked when I found out he was going to play Jacob, I thought he looked too young. But I started looking for more current pics of him and while he is still too young to play NM and Eclipse Jacob, he has the boyish goodlooks and bright smile that will be good for Twilight. I just hope he is a good actor.

I have always pictured Steven Strait as Jacob. If only he could be in NM and Eclipse...

Taylor Lautner and Steven Strait even look enough alike that it would hardly matter if they replaced him. This is what I'm hoping. Or Taylor Lautner grows tall and strong. Haha. Either way, Steven Strait was way too old-looking to play Jacob in Twilight. I like the decision they made.
